On a very beautiful Sunday Morning, September 25th 2016, a group of runners/walkers joined the Butler Lions Club members for a 5K run/walk race through scenic Alameda Park. A competitive race was conducted by “Miles of Smiles” timing services. The Men’s winner was Ethan Depew who edged out 2014 & 2015 winner Tim Monfre by 4 seconds. Ethan’s time was 19m:10s. The winner of the women’s race was 20 year old Courtney Sullivan who ran the 5K in 23m:14s. Lions Art Black, Doug Hayes and Ryan Perkins participated in the race.
After the race everybody enjoyed a breakfast of Chili (made by Lions Club members) and other refreshments. Event co-chairs Lion Jennifer Bindernagel & Lion Dan Smith welcomed the runners and guests and conducted the awards ceremony. Lions Bindernagel & Smith then awarded door prizes to most of the participants. Each runner received a Scoot & Toot T-shirt which listed all the sponsors on the back of the shirt.
And more importantly, the Lions raised approximately $???? which will directly help those in need in the Butler community.
