On a very beautiful Sunday Morning, September 24th 2017, a group of runners/walkers joined the Butler Lions Club members for a 5K run/walk race through scenic Alameda Park. A competitive race was conducted by “Miles of Smiles” timing services. The Men’s winner was David Bruni. David’s time was 23m:21s. The winner of the women’s race was Melissa Beerman who ran the 5K in 25m:14s. Lions Art Black, Doug Hayes, Connie Ivill, BT & Ellen Fullerton, Kevin Barnhart and Dick Schwab participated in the race.
After the race everybody enjoyed a breakfast of Chili (made by Lions Club members) and other refreshments. Event co-chairs Lion Jennifer Bindernagel & Lion Dan Smith welcomed the runners and guests and conducted the awards ceremony. Lions Bindernagel & Smith then awarded door prizes to most of the participants. Each runner received a Scoot & Toot T-shirt which listed all the sponsors on the back of the shirt.
And more importantly, the Lions raised $2,100 which will directly help those in need in the Butler community.
