On a very confortable Sunday Morning, September 27th 2015, a group of runners/walkers joined the Butler Lions Club members for a 5K run/walk race through scenic Alameda Park. A competitive race was conducted by “Miles of Smiles” timing services. The Men’s winner was Tim Monfre who returned to defend his 2014 title. His time was 19m:24s The winner of the women’s race was 22 year old Karen Geesey who ran the 5K in 21m:22s. King Lion Doug Hayes and Lions Art Black & John Hertzog participated in the race.
After the race everybody enjoyed a breakfast of Chili (made by Lions Club members) and other refreshments. Event co-chairs Lion Jennifer Bindernagel & Lion Dan Smith welcomed the runners and guests and conducted the awards ceremony. Lions Bindernagel & Smith then awarded door prizes to most of the participants. Each runner received a Scoot & Toot T-shirt which listed all the sponsors on the back of the shirt.
And more importantly, the Lions raised approximately $2,000 which will directly help those in need in the Butler community.
